Over the past several months, one topic has generated considerable discussion throughout Montgomery Township’s business community: the upcoming opening of Montgomery Promenade.
Before discussing the Promenade, I would like to briefly share the role of the Montgomery Business Association (MBA) within our community. The MBA is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting local businesses, promoting economic growth, encouraging residents to shop locally, and fostering connections between businesses, residents, schools, nonprofit organizations, and local government.

Our membership includes retailers, restaurants, professional service providers, healthcare organizations, nonprofits, and many other businesses that contribute to the quality of life we enjoy in Montgomery Township.
One of the MBA’s primary goals is to strengthen the local business community while helping create an environment where businesses of all sizes can succeed. Whether we are coordinating grand openings, supporting community events, partnering with Montgomery Township, working with Montgomery High School, promoting local businesses, providing networking opportunities to help build relationships, or helping new businesses become part of the community, our mission remains the same: building a stronger Montgomery.
Expected to open later this year, Montgomery Promenade will bring more than 40 new businesses to our community, including restaurants, retail stores, health and wellness providers, childcare services, and other businesses that will serve Montgomery residents and visitors alike.
As President of the Montgomery Business Association, I have had the opportunity to speak with many business owners about the project. Some are excited about the increased activity and investment it will bring to town. Others have expressed understandable concerns about how additional businesses may impact existing establishments that have served Montgomery for many years.
The MBA recognizes both perspectives.

Our long-established local businesses helped build the strong and vibrant community we enjoy today. They have supported our schools, sponsored local sports teams, donated to charitable causes, participated in community events, and invested countless hours and resources into making Montgomery a great place to live, work, and shop. Their contributions should never be overlooked.
At the same time, business growth can create new opportunities. New businesses bring new jobs, new customers, and increased visibility for our community. Many residents may choose Montgomery as a destination because of the variety of shopping, dining, and service options available. When more people visit our township, all businesses have the opportunity to benefit.
As the Promenade approaches its opening, the MBA’s role is not to choose between established businesses and new businesses. Our role is to strengthen Montgomery’s entire business community.

We believe that successful communities are built on relationships, collaboration, and mutual support. That is why the MBA intends to focus on helping businesses connect with one another, encouraging local partnerships, and ensuring that new businesses become active members of our community.
Many residents may not realize that behind many nationally recognized brands are local entrepreneurs, local managers, and local employees. We look forward to introducing many of these business owners to the community in the coming months and highlighting the people who have chosen to invest in Montgomery.
We are also excited about the employment opportunities that will accompany the new development. In fact, the MBA has already received inquiries from residents seeking information about jobs that may become available. Helping connect local employers with local talent is another important way we can support our community.
Over the next several months, the MBA will continue working with existing businesses, incoming businesses, township officials, and community organizations to ensure that Montgomery’s growth benefits everyone.

One thing will not change: our commitment to supporting local businesses and encouraging residents to Shop Local Montgomery.
Whether a business has been here for forty years or forty days, we all share the same goal— making Montgomery a thriving, welcoming, and successful community.
