Women’s History Month is a fitting time to honor two outstanding public servants and political path makers: Grace A. Gurisic, first woman mayor of the Borough of Rocky Hill, and Cathy Frank-White, first woman mayor of Montgomery Township.

Jayshree Srikanth has navigated from Nairobi, Kenya, where she was born and raised, to become a resident and cultural representative of Montgomery Township, NJ. She recently walked the ramp at the Miss Bharat USA 2025 national pageant held at Royal Albert’s Palace, NJ, on Dec. 5, and earned the title of "Mrs. Bharat Petite USA 2025."

Johnson & Johnson on Feb. 18 announced a more than $1 billion investment in a new next generation cell therapy manufacturing facility in Pennsylvania that will provide 4,000 construction jobs and 500 skilled biomanufacturing jobs once it is fully operational. The site in Lower Gwynedd, Montgomery County, is 39 miles from 199 Grandview Road in Montgomery Township, where J&J built a manufacturing plant in the 1970s that included diaper production.

The tiny borough of Rocky Hill, nestled along the D&R Canal State Park and within walking distance to the booming real estate markets of Princeton and Montgomery Township, may see a huge population spike. The historic village has about 280 households, but that may increase by another 91 homes in the form of condos and rowhomes on a historic farm property off Princeton Avenue. This 32% increase would include 18 affordable units.

I’ve officially decided, to absolutely no one’s surprise, the best gifts are those you can eat. 2025 was no different, I made limoncello for my sister-in-law’s birthday, a pretty epic cake for my mom, and for Christmas I really outdid myself with a giant homemade drumstick ice cream cone for my dad (actually the size of his head) and for my brother and sister-in-law (and some for my best friend too), I made candied ginger!

Emma Seamon and Gavin Fong are the February 2026 Athletes of the Month for The Montgomery News.

In this age of increasingly specialized athletes – year-round practices for the same sport – Montgomery junior Emma Seamon is a reminder of how kids should approach athletics. A star forward for the Cougars’ soccer team and starting goaltender for the Hopewell- Montgomery co-op team, Seamon has become an invaluable part of each program.
