Montgomery Township Cars Burglarized Plus Multiple Motor Vehicle Crashes

Three-car accident involving a tractor trailer on Route 206

A three-car accident on Route 206 on Tuesday resulted in a Hillsborough resident being transported to the hospital and created a traffic jam on the state highway in the Belle Mead section of Montgomery Township.


Montgomery police and EMS responded to Route 206 at Platz Drive for the motor vehicle crash with an injury on October 10 at 11:55 am. A 17-year-old from Belle Mead was driving a 2016 Toyota Highlander on Platz Drive. While attempting to make a left turn onto Route 206, the teenager pulled out in front of a 2012 VW Tiguan traveling north on Route 206, operated by Susan Horvath, 69, of Hillsborough.


After the two vehicles collided, Horvath’s vehicle collided with a 2007 Peterbilt semi-truck and trailer traveling south on Route 206, operated by Fofana Abraham, 42, of Johnson City, TN. Abraham swerved to try and avoid the collision and in doing so drove off the roadway and struck a utility pole.


Abraham’s truck was subsequently struck by Horvath’s vehicle after the initial collision with the teenager’s vehicle. EMS evaluated the involved parties. Horvath was transported to Robert Wood Johnson Hospital-New Brunswick by ambulance for further treatment. The 17-year-old was issued a summons for failing to yield and is scheduled to appear in Montgomery Municipal Court. Route 206 was closed to through traffic for an hour and a half while Police investigated.


Cars Burglarized while Parked off Blue Spring Road

Montgomery Township police reported that seven cars in the Blue Spring Road vicinity were burglarized on October 6. Items that were stolen from these vehicles included cash and identification cards.


A woman reported to Montgomery police on October 6 at 7:30 am that her vehicle had been burglarized in the parking lot of Princeton Gardens Apartments on Blue Spring Road. She said that someone stole her driver’s license and her car keys from the vehicle. Approximately five minutes later, police received a second report of a burglarized motor vehicle on Scarlet Oak Drive. No items were taken from this vehicle. This additional report led police to canvass the area of Scarlet Oak Drive and River Birch Circle for additional vehicles that had been burglarized. Officers discovered approximately seven vehicles had been burglarized.

Motorcycle Accident with Injuries on Route 206 at Belle Mead-Griggstown Road

A Belle Mead resident driving an SUV crashed into a motorcycle on September 27 at 7:22 pm. Police said Sujata Sundara-Rajan, 41, of Belle Mead attempted to make a left turn from Route 206 south onto Belle Mead-Griggstown Road when she struck the motorcycle.


Montgomery police and EMS observed motorcyclist Pierre Chwang, 33, of Bridgewater, laying in the northbound lane of Route 206 when they responded to the intersection of Route 206 and Belle Mead-Griggstown Road. A police investigation revealed that Sundara-Rajan was driving a 2019 Toyota Rav-4 when she struck Chwang, who was driving a 2012 KTM 990 motorcycle. Chwang had been travelling north on Route 206.


Montgomery EMS transported Chwang to RWJ New Brunswick for treatment. Both vehicle were towed from the scene.


Sundara-Rajan was issued a summons for Careless Driving and is scheduled to appear in Montgomery . Municipal Court. The northbound lane of Route 206 was closed for about 40 minutes.
