Catherine Plunkett, Candidate for Rocky Hill Borough Council

Catherine Plunkett, an associate scientist/microbiologist at PTC Therapeutics, Inc, has filed a petition to run for Rocky Hill Borough Council. She will appear on the primary ballot in June, in a non-contested race. She is seeking one of the two slots on the Democratic Party line for a full three-year term on borough council.

Plunkett earned a bachelor's degree in biology from Florida Atlantic University in 2012; and her associate's degree in biology from Middlesex County College in 2008.


Her career path has included a variety of positions. She worked as a mortician's assistant for the University of Medicine and Dentistry of NJ in Piscataway in 2008, dissecting cadavers in preparation for use in the lab by medical students. According to her LinkedIn account, she later worked for Bristol-Myers Squibb (2017 to 2020) as an associate scientist, where she created a microbiology lab to support Cell Line Development and product development.


She began working for PTC Therapeutics in September 2020. PTC is known for expertise in RNA biology and gene therapy.
