Member of Montgomery High School's First Graduating Class

March 22, 1953  -  March 25, 2025

Peter Kammler, formerly of Skillman, NJ, died unexpectedly on March 25, 2025 at the Country Village Center in Lancaster, New Hampshire.

Peter grew up on Beau Run Farm in Skillman during Montgomery Township’s rural days in the 1960s and 1970s. Growing up on the farm, Peter was a lover of the outdoors and became an avid fisherman, trapper, hunter and bow hunter. Peter’s favorite fishing spot for Brook Trout was a shallow eddy in Back Brook up on Hollow Road in Skillman.

Peter was a member of the first graduating class of Montgomery High School in 1971. He went on to study physical education at Lyndon State College, in Lyndonville, Vermont. After graduating, Peter worked for several years at Snyder’s Sunoco.

Growing up in an automotive business family, Peter often bought and sold used cars for a profit — so many so, that at one point, it was a family joke that the State of New Jersey DMV was going to go after him for not having a used cars sales license.

Peter was a hard worker and started a small landscaping company that grew to service several corporate clients. However, Peter’s undeniable passion for the northern woods kept calling, and he left New Jersey with his black Lab, Gus, for the woods and wilds of Eagle Lake and Fort Kent, Maine.

Peter eventually landed in North Conway, New Hampshire, where he lived for many years. Tall and handsome, Peter was always smiling, never complained of his struggles, and was often heard humming his favorite melody, “Danny’s Song” by Loggins and Messina, about his college sweetheart, Betsy. Peter had a great sense of humor and was liked or loved by everyone who had the privilege of getting to know him.

Peter was predeceased by his mother, Patricia Walther Kammler Cole and step-dad, Stanley Woodward Cole, of Hillsborough, NJ, and his father, Cory Kammler of Jensen Beach, Florida.

Peter is survived by his brother, Cory Kammler II (Joann) of Ellijay, Georgia, his niece, Christy Lee Kammler (Timmy Horvath), of North Port, Florida, his sister, Robin Kammler Miller, of Jamestown, New York, his niece, Sarah Miller Eckert, of Frewsburg, NY and great nieces and nephews, Hannah, Harrison, Henry and Hazel Eckert, of Frewsburg, NY.

Peter was laid to rest in the Rocky Hill Cemetery, in Rocky Hill, NJ. Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Hillsborough Funeral Home in Hillsborough, NJ. A private ceremony will be held at a future date.
