The two candidates running for the one-year-term are: Marion Sanders of the Republican party running against Dennis Ahn (incumbent) of the Democratic party.

The Montgomery Township Committee has five members. Usually, a term lasts for three years. This year, a committee member had to resign for health reasons, so one of the open seats on the ballot is for a one-year-term.

The League of Women Voters is a national organization that takes no position on candidates for public office, or on political parties. Its goal is to encourage the informed and active participation of citizens in government.

Candidates’ forums are a key element of the league’s mission to promote an informed and engaged electorate. They are opportunities for voters to learn about who will be on their ballots. The forum was broadcast live on Facebook, and available on demand at cnjn.org and at TheMontyNews.org. ■
