For the first time in years, the Montgomery/Rocky Hill School District has more candidates than seats.

Eight candidates will appear on the General Election ballot. Seven are vying for three three-year terms on the board. One is running unopposed for a one-year un-expired term of a board member who had to resign before her term expired.

Patrick Todd, Associate Director, Test Security, at The College Board, is running unopposed for the unexpired term of Minkyo Chenette, who had to resign earlier this year.

The candidates are:

Ali Batliwala, vice president, Bank of America Merrill Lynch; Victoria “Cookie” Franco-Herman, Investments Coordinator Robert Wood Johnson Foundation; Christina C. Harris, an educator and stay-at-home mom; Ranjana R. Rao, Senior Director, NIIT Technologies; Biren Saraiya, physician, Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey; Zelda Spence Wallace, educator, Plainfield School District; and Balaji Yegneswaran, physician. ■
