Diane J. Calhoun, 81

Lifelong Resident of Rocky Hill

Diane J. Calhoun, 81, of Rocky Hill, NJ, died at home on January 28, 2024.

Daughter of the late Charles and Dorothy May (Breese) Wright-Thompson, and stepfather Edwin L. Thompson, Diane was born in Princeton and was a lifelong resident of Rocky Hill.

She worked for Sears & Roebuck Company for several years, then stayed home to care for her two children and late husband, Robert "Bob" M. Calhoun. She loved to cook, garden, care for animals, and listen to country music.

Diane and Bob assisted handicapped children with horseback riding at the Somerset County Lord Stirling Stable in Basking Ridge, NJ for many years. She was a member of the First Reform Church of Rocky Hill then later the Harlingen Reformed Church, and the Rocky Hill Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.

She is remembered by her family: son Keith R. Calhoun; daughter Lisa and her husband Vincent Cuomo; brother Charles “Robert” Wright and his wife Donna; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Daniel and Patricia Calhoun, Carl and Mary Calhoun, Earl Calhoun, and John Calhoun Jr.

She was a loving grandmother to six grandchildren: Michael (and wife Savannah) Cuomo, Christopher Cuomo, Colby Calhoun, Brennan Calhoun, Chase Calhoun, and Sarahbeth (and husband Jesse) Hollobaugh, and great-grandchildren Dylan Rourke, Greyson, Zayne, EzrahMay, and Oakley.

Diane’s lifelong friendship with Barbara Whitlock and her close bond with her cousin, Raymond Durling, were special to her. She cherished her visits and relationships with her many neighbors, especially Chuck and Jill Cook, as well as her nieces, nephews, and many friends.

A memorial service and celebration of Diane's life will be held at Harlingen Reformed Church, with details to be announced later. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association in Diane’s honor.
