Montgomery Township, NJ – The township's historical society is offering a $100 reward for indisputable proof that the township is, in fact, named after Revolutionary War Gen. Richard Montgomery.

Alan Frederick Sweeton, formerly of Montgomery Township, NJ, died on December 15, 2025 in Augusta, GA. He was 42.

Montgomery native Jeff Mertz is co-founder and owner of Wildspawn Mushrooms, a blossoming agribusiness. Weekend farmers’ market attendees are often drawn to Wildspawn’s colorful array of the freshly-foraged and locally-grown fungi.

Township Administrator Lori Savron updated the community on top issues — WiFi service, the pending development of the Kenvue Corporate site in Skillman, management of the food pantry, and the imminent opening of a new, inclusive playground — at the Montgomery Township Committee meeting on Thursday, September 4.

Former Belle Mead Fire Chief Dan Calver Pullen rode the heavenly fire truck to his last call. He died on August 7, 2025, surrounded by family.

Montgomery Township Committee and Planning Board held an Affordable Housing Town Hall Monday night at the municipal center. Mayor Neena Singh said, "New options were developed in response to public feedback. Among the new options are additional extensions on expiring deed restrictions on existing affordable units so we can further reduce the total number of new units constructed." Meanwhile, two community groups are gearing up to challenge the township's plan.
