From the Somerset County Library System | Posted April 24, 2022

The Somerset County Library System (SCLS) will host an open house at the Mary Jacobs Memorial Library in Rocky Hill on Thursday to celebrate the past, present, and future of the Mary Jacobs Memorial Library.

“The Mary Jacobs branch is a location well known to generations of customers throughout Somerset County," according to Somerset County Library Commission Chairperson Roberta Karpinecz. “The Somerset County Library Commission celebrates our longtime relationship with the Mary Jacobs branch and the library foundation. We look forward to strengthening that relationship in the new [mini library] in the Mary Jacobs branch, scheduled to re-open [in Rocky Hill] this fall.”

SCLS will host an open house event on Thursday, April 28 from 10:30 am to 7:30 pm. Drop in any time for refreshments and activities planned for children and adults.

“In addition to sharing the documentary we’ve produced about the rich history of the branch so far, we’ll be able to share our exciting plans for Mary Jacobs’ next chapter. — Brian Auger, Somerset County Library administrator.

"Working with the towns and foundation, we are committed to continuing to provide responsive library services to our southern Somerset County residents," Auger said in the prepared statement. "We will stand by this commitment to deliver the best services as outlined in our agreement.”

A documentary-style film celebrating the history of the branch will be running on loop throughout the open house event. View a preview of the film.

“We are excited to celebrate the rich history and role of [the] Mary Jacobs branch in Rocky Hill,” said Elizabete Pata, the new SCLS branch manager for Rocky Hill and Montgomery.

“I and the team here are excited about the future of the Mary Jacobs branch and are looking forward to meeting and speaking with our community on this special day.” ■
