Skillman has a new Turkish restaurant. Mira Mediterranean Grill, offering chicken kebabs, falafel (deep fried chickpeas), and gyro doner (a combo of ground beef and lamb sliced thin), opened recently in Skillman.

According to a 2025 report on NJ.com, the Montgomery School District ranks 17th in the state for the highest school taxes. The average Montgomery taxpayer pays $11,749 each year to the public schools. This is 68.6% of a resident’s average annual property tax bill of $17,131. On the bright side, the overall average annual property tax of $17,131 is the lowest in the grouping of the 17 top districts.

Montgomery High School’s marching band closed out its 2025 season with a sweep of major awards, a series of standout performances, and a renewed sense of pride in a program that has quickly been rising to statewide prominence.

Recruitment efforts to hire three new officers began in February, with a total of 96 applications. Of those, the Montgomery Police Department selected three. All three were affirmed by the Township Committee, and two were sworn in at town hall on October 16.

Montgomery Township will remember local victims of the September 11, 2001 attack on America on with a ceremony at the Montgomery Fire Department #2 / Blawenburg at 6 pm today, September 11.  Three Montgomery residents and one Rocky Hill resident died in the 9/11 attacks – Brian Thomas Cummins, Steven Goldstein, Phillip L. Parker, and William F. Fallon (Rocky Hill).

Uprooted trees, fallen branches — even a trampoline flying through the air in the Bridgepoint section of Belle Mead — closed sections of Route 206 and River Road (Route 533) today into this evening as Montgomery Public Works crews and first responders worked to reopen and restore order throughout the township.
