Montgomery Township/Rocky Hill School Board Candidates 2026

Q:  How many years have you lived in Montgomery or Rocky Hill?

A:   My family and I moved to Montgomery 28 years ago, and it has been a wonderful place to live, work, and raise our family.

Q:  Where do you work/job title?

A:  I currently serve as the Accounts Payable/Purchasing Coordinator for the Hopewell Valley Regional School District.

Q:  Education

A:  I earned both my Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and my Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Thomas Edison State University. 

Q:  Family/Personal

A:  I have been married for nearly 33 years, and have two children, who attended and graduated from Montgomery High School. Like many families, we chose Montgomery because of the outstanding reputation of its schools. We knew the taxes were higher than in many neighboring communities, but we believed—and continue to believe—that investing in a high-quality public education is one of the greatest strengths of our township. 

Q:  What skills do you have that would make you a good school board member?

A:   My professional experience has prepared me well to serve on the board of education. I worked in the Montgomery School District for 19 years and continue to work in public education today. During those 19 years, I spent 15 years working directly in a school building alongside students and staff before transitioning to the business office for four years. This combination of classroom-level and district-level experience has given me a well-rounded understanding of how a school system operates, the challenges it faces, and the importance of balancing educational priorities with sound financial management. 

Q:   What issues do you believe our district needs to address? What changes would you recommend?

A:  If elected to the board of education, my priorities would be to keep students at the center of every decision while promoting collaboration, transparency, and fiscal responsibility. Our district is strongest when board members, administrators, staff, parents, and community members work together, communicate openly, and remain focused on what is best for students. Respectful dialogue and a shared commitment to common goals will move our district forward far more effectively than division. 

Q:  What are your thoughts on school taxes? What should be the MTSD priorities?

A:  I believe fiscal responsibility must remain a priority. As taxpayers, we have an obligation to carefully evaluate spending and learn from past decisions to ensure resources are used effectively. 

At the same time, we must recognize that the quality of our schools is one of the primary reasons families choose to live in Montgomery Township. While financial efficiencies should always be explored, I do not believe budget reductions should automatically come at the expense of the educators and staff who work directly with our students. 

We should be willing to think creatively, identify innovative solutions, and find opportunities to reduce costs while preserving the high-quality educational experience that our community values. 

Q:   What book would you recommend as being important for all high school students to read, and say why?

A:    One book I believe every high school student should read is “The Anxious Generation,” by Jonathan Haidt. The book explores how increased screen time and social media use are contributing to rising levels of anxiety and other mental health challenges among young people. 

While it offers valuable guidance for parents, it can also encourage students to reflect on their own technology habits and consider how excessive screen time may affect their mental well-being, relationships, and overall quality of life. These are important conversations for students and families to have together.
