NJ State Police Announce Formal Charges of 17-year-old Montgomery Teen Arrested for Child Sexual Exploitation and Abuse Materials

NJ State Police responded to press inquiries regarding the charges levied against a Montgomery High School senior, who was arrested at his home on March 17. The Montgomery News, which has been pressing for details on this case, received a press release on April 24 stating the suspect was arrested for child sexual exploitation and abuse material (CSEAM). He is charged with second-degree distribution of CSEAM, third-degree possession of CSEAM, and fourth-degree cyber harassment. The 17-year old Belle Mead resident remains in a juvenile detention center pending a detention hearing.

Sgt. Jeffrey Lebron of the New Jersey State Police Office of Public Information also confirmed that on March 17, detectives from the Internet Crimes Against Children Unit executed a search warrant at a residence on Addison Avenue in the Belle Mead section Montgomery Township. Police were following up on a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.


The juvenile is lodged at the Middlesex County Juvenile Detention Center in North Brunswick, police said. Most of the teens at the detention center are 15 to 17 but sometimes as young as 12 and as old as 19. Most are waiting for court hearings on charges such as serious assault, violent robberies, and sex assaults.

As of press time of this article, the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office could not say what kind of sentence or penalty theses charges could carry for the Belle Mead juvenile. No further details were available from the police this time.
