Montgomery Township police responded to an Avalon Lakes residence on December 4 at 5:45 pm for a reported motor vehicle theft. The victim informed police that her 2020 BMW X5 was stolen from her garage while she was home. The vehicle was stolen between 5:15 pm and 5:45 pm. Police determined that the garage door was open and the key was left in the vehicle. MTPD would like to remind residents to lock their vehicles, and remove any/all valuables.
Residents of Harvest Moon Lane in Montgomery Township reported on December 10 at 3:53 pm that someone entered their home overnight and stole their garage door open, but left the 2019 Porsche Cayenne. The suspect(s) entered the residence, and police said it appeared the suspect(s) rummaged through the interior compartments of the vehicle, and removed the garage door remote from the vehicle’s visor. The suspect(s) were then able to open the outer garage door and exit the residence. The only item reported stolen at this time is the garage door opener. The MTPD detective bureau is investigating.
On December 8, Montgomery Police responded to a McKinley Court residence for a reported burglary attempt. The resident noticed her screen window was damaged and upon further inspection observed a pry mark on the bottom of the window frame. The actor did not gain access to the residence.
Montgomery police have responded to several reports of individuals playing a violin in the parking lot of Montgomery Shopping Center during the month of December. In these instances, the person would solicit money while playing, however, the violin music is actually played through a Bluetooth speaker from a cell phone nearby and the individuals conducting this scam have been found to be from out of state.

Montgomery police responded to the Volkswagen dealership on Route 206 on December 6 at 7:28 am for the reported theft of rims and tires. Dealership staff reported that overnight, four sets of rims and tires, valued at $4,000, were stolen from a 2022 Audi A4 that was parked behind the service center. Montgomery's detective bureau is investigating. Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact MTPD at 908.359.3222.
