Montgomery High School is thrilled to present this year’s spring musical, "Mean Girls," with performances on March 20 and 21. Based on the beloved 2004 film, the musical premiered on Broadway in 2018 and features an incredible book by Tina Fey, music by Jeff Richmond, and lyrics by Nell Benjamin. The production features catchy songs, dynamic choreography, as well as the iconic characters and story line from the original film.

"Mean Girls" chronicles Cady Heron’s struggles with her move from the African savanna to a high school setting, where she encounters an elite clique known as the Plastics (Regina, Gretchen, and Karen). Narrated by the witty Janis and Damian, the show depicts modern high school culture and highlights the importance of empathy, inclusion, and self-discovery.

The production features an incredibly talented student cast, crew, and pit orchestra. The spring musical is directed by Neelam Makvana and Jeffrey Woodworth (music director). Choreographers include Michelle Pender and Renee Perovich. Rebecca Palmer is the pit orchestra director, and Jason Orbe and Matthew Brady are the technical directors.

Some of the show’s themes are more adult-like at times as they depict real-life situations that young students often face. With that in mind, "Mean Girls" is recommended for mature audiences due to the PG-13 language and content.

The performances are on Friday, March 20 at 7:30 pm and Saturday, March 21 at 2 pm and 7 pm.

Tickets are $12 for general admission and $8 for students and senior citizens.
