Montgomery Township Police received a 9-1-1 call of a burglary in progress to an occupied residence on Remy Court in Montgomery Township on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at 10:53 pm. The caller reported hearing suspicious noises and observing broken glass from a window in the basement of the residence.

Montgomery Township officers responded to the residence and located a male suspect, later identified as Devoris Daniels in the driveway. Daniels refused to comply with the responding officer’s instructions to stop before fleeing on foot into the backyard.

Officers in pursuit of the suspect observed that Daniels had re-entered the basement of the residence through a broken window and were able to apprehend him inside of the residence, where he was located hiding in a closet. Additionally, a Somerset County Sheriff’s Office officer responded to the scene to assist in tracking additional suspects with the use of a canine, along with Bernards Township police using drone assets.

The Burglary Investigation

Prosecutor McDonald said detectives from the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Burglary Task Force alongside detectives from the Montgomery Township Police Department joined the burglary investigation the morning of December 17. It was determined there were two additional suspects involved, and a 2022 Nissan Altima was used during the residential burglary. Detectives located the vehicle in Trenton.

Upon conducting physical surveillance of the vehicle, detectives observed Mekai Wright entering the vehicle.  Detectives initiated a motor vehicle stop of the vehicle, when Wright exited the vehicle and fled on foot.  Following a brief foot pursuit, Wright was placed under arrest.

Through further investigative means, detectives identified Lloyd Beard-Julius as the third and final suspect of the burglary. A warrant was issued for his arrest, which was placed in the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) database. On January 28, Beard-Julius was arrested by the Mount Laurel Police Department in Burlington County on unrelated charges and subsequently served with the Somerset County Warrant.

Prosecutor McDonald stated the defendants apprehended were each charged with the following:

  • Devoris Daniels - charged with 2nd degree Burglary of an Occupied Structure, and 4th degree Resisting Arrest/Eluding.

  • Mekai Wright - charged with 2nd degree Burglary of an Occupied Structure, Criminal Mischief, and Obstruction, both disorderly persons offenses.

  • Lloyd Beard-Julius – Charged with 2nd degree Burglary of an Occupied Structure, and Criminal Mischief, a disorderly person’s offense.

Daniels and Wright were remanded to the Somerset County Jail pending a Superior Court detention hearing in this matter. Beard-Julius was remanded to the Burlington County Jail awaiting court proceedings in Somerset County.
