Senior Muinat Tijani works hard, and helped her team place 3rd in the discus relay and 5th in the shot put relay at the Somerset County Relay Championship. Through Montgomery High School’s program, and her older sister Raliat’s influence, Tijani has learned what it takes to be a competitor. Born in Nigeria, Tijani says she arrived in the United States as an infant. She joined the MHS track & field team her sophomore year. “It definitely helped with my work ethic,” she says. “I feel I started [working harder] in other parts of my life too. I needed to be better and put in more effort.” Read more
Mason Neufeld took to the mound in the top of the seventh in a tie game against Pingry at the Somerset Patriots’ TD Bank Park in Bridgewater on April 11. With one out in the eighth, Neufield hit a double. Then teammate Henry Maddox hit a single, bringing Neufield home, and the score to 10-9. The win eventually went to Neufeld in relief, as the Cougars topped Pingry 11-10. Neufeld told The Montgomery News, “Moments like that make me feel really grateful.
