Montgomery Township, NJ — For local families whose SNAP benefits remain under threat, accessing food assistance through local food pantries has become imperative. Montgomery Township first responders pulled a non-ambulatory resident from a fully engulfed fire at a home on the corner of Opossum Road and Thiemarx Terrace in Skillman early this morning. Two people were transported to the local hospital for smoke inhalation.

Montgomery Township and Rocky Hill Borough voters decisively elected two new faces, and one former board appointee, to the local school board on November 4. Local voters also elected Democrats from the top of the ticket down to Township Committee and Borough Council, according to preliminary results from the Somerset County Clerk.

The Montgomery Township NJ School Board narrowly approved a free program at its September meeting to help students who experience mental health issues and to prevent teen suicide. The program, Hope Squad, was endorsed by multiple district educators. And, a Belle Mead resident who is helping to fund the program, spoke about her niece’s experience with depression and how this program may have saved her.

Montgomery Township Committee NJ Ratifies a New Contract with Police on Monday, November 27, 2025. The contract equates to annual salary increases of about 3.75% for the next four years.

Rocky Hill resident Sean Kucharski and his finance Brandie L. Merunka like to spend evenings fishing for catfish off the Washington Street bridge over the Millstone River. Perhaps this hobby might change, after Kucharski was struck by a bicycle in the dark of night and, in his words, was "almost killed."

Recruitment efforts to hire three new officers began in February, with a total of 96 applications. Of those, the Montgomery Police Department selected three. All three were affirmed by the Township Committee, and two were sworn in at town hall on October 16.

On October 18 at 9:30 am, Montgomery Police, Montgomery Fire Company 2, Rocky Hill Fire Company and Montgomery EMS responded to building 10 at the Princeton Garden Apartments on Blue Spring Road for a fire in an apartment.

They are also holding their fourth annual No. 95 Charity event in Montclair to benefit the Fisher Center for Alzheimer’s Research on Saturday, October 25 from 7 pm until 10 pm.
