The Montgomery Police Department Works to Keep MHS Students and the Community Safe

On March 11 and 12, detectives from Montgomery Police Department gave a presentation on drugs and internet safety to the freshman class at Montgomery High School. Montgomery Police are committed to help educate the community about the dangers of illicit drug use, as well as provide tips and guidance for the safe use of the internet and social media.

On March 14 at 7:43 am, Officer Piper Ford responded to Vreeland Drive for a welfare check on an elderly male sitting in a vehicle. Officer Ford determined the male was lost and later learned that he has cognitive decline. Officer Ford transported the male to his residence in Pennington, where he was turned over to family.


On March 15 at 4:39 pm, Montgomery Police responded to Harlingen Road for a vehicle in a ditch. Officer Sles spoke with the driver, Kendall Gregis, age 23 of Hamilton, about the incident. While speaking with him, Officer Sles determined Gregis consumed alcoholic beverages prior to operating the vehicle. Gregis was arrested for driving while intoxicated and transported to MTPD HQ for processing. In addition to driving while intoxicated, Gregis was also charged with careless driving, reckless driving and having an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle. Gregis was released and is scheduled to appear in Montgomery Municipal Court.


On March 17 at 8:47 pm, a person reported the theft of Apple AirPods from a locker at Princeton Fitness and Wellness. The victim advised police that the AirPods, valued at 249.00 dollars, tracked to an apartment complex located in South Brunswick. The detective bureau is investigating.


On March 21 at 2:13 am, Officer Kopyto stopped a vehicle Route 518 for observed motor vehicle violations. While speaking with the driver, Robert Barrett, age 31 of Hamilton, Officer Kopyto determined he consumed alcoholic beverages prior to driving. Barrett was arrested for driving while intoxicated and transported to MTPD HQ for processing. In addition to driving while intoxicated, Barrett was charged with careless driving, reckless driving, failure to maintain lane and refusal to submit to breath testing. Barrett was released and is scheduled to appear in Montgomery Municipal Court.


On March 21 at 11:35 pm, Sergeant Colucci stopped a vehicle on Route 206 for a motor vehicle violation. Sergeant Colucci determined the driver, Shaheed Barri, 32 of Trenton, had an active warrant for his arrest from Newark Municipal Court. Barri was subsequently arrested and transported to MTPD HQ for processing. Newark Municipal Court was contacted and Barri was released with a new court date. Barri was issued motor vehicle citations for speeding, reckless driving, failure to maintain lane, and driving with an expired license. Barri is scheduled to appear in Montgomery Municipal Court for the traffic violations.

On March 22 at 12:55 am, Officer Gonzalez stopped a vehicle Montgomery Road for observed motor vehicle violations. While speaking with the driver, Michael Maraghy, age 46 of Rocky Hill, Officer Gonzalez determined he consumed alcoholic beverages prior to driving. Maraghy was arrested for driving while intoxicated and transported to MTPD HQ for processing. In addition to driving while intoxicated, Maraghy was charged with careless driving, reckless driving, and failure to maintain lane. Maraghy was release and is scheduled to appear in Montgomery Municipal Court.


On March 23 at 4:12 am, Montgomery Police responded to Castleton Road for suspicious individuals pulling on door handles of cars. As police arrived, a vehicle fled the area at a high rate of speed. Officers were unable to locate the vehicle after it fled. A resident showed police surveillance video of the individuals pulling on door handles of cars in the area. Montgomery Police were later contacted by additional residents, reporting the same events. The detective bureau is investigating.


Residents are remined to remove any valuables from their vehicles and ensure that vehicles are locked and secured.
