Dr. Bell and Friends: Musical Showcase and Reception

In celebration of the musical ministry that Dr. Laura Bell has provided to the Montgomery United Methodist Church and the community, the church will present a musical showcase on August 30 at 3 pm featuring Dr. Bell on piano: Alexa Farrah, voice; Cheryl Housten, flute; and Jing Yang, violin.

Tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for students and seniors. Sponsorships are available. A reception will follow.

Dr. Bell has moved to Cape May, where she will continue to share her love of music.

She has served as the full time organist, pianist and accompanist for Montgomery United Methodist Church in Montgomery, as well as other organizations including the Princeton Girl Choir and the Starlite Chorale.

She has performed with orchestras and choirs, chamber music and solo concerts in Boston, Los Angeles, France, New York, and New Jersey.

She has made two CDs in the last five years of solo piano music. A recent CD, “Deck the Holidays” is comprised of arrangements of familiar and traditional Christmas music in all genres and styles.

Dr. Bell earned a bachelor’s degree in Piano Performance from New England Conservatory of Music in 1985 followed by a master’s degree in Piano Performance from University of Southern California in 1987. She earned her doctorate from Rutgers in 1997.

Dr. Bell taught at Raritan Valley College for 13 years. She also organized the NJ Piano Festival, and was a founding member of the NJ Pianist Competition.
