The Somerset County ARRIVE Together Program and Bridgewater Behavioral Health Services honored Montgomery Township Police Officer Troy Gonzalez during its annual recognition ceremony on June 24 for collaborating with others to achieve shared goals while leveraging individual strengths, communicating clearly, and supporting his colleagues.

Officer Gonzalez was recognized for his professionalism, teamwork, and commitment while assisting an individual experiencing a mental health crisis earlier this year. His actions demonstrated the collaborative approach that is central to the ARRIVE Together program and contributed to a positive outcome for the individual in crisis.

The annual event recognizes law enforcement officers, mental and behavioral health clinicians, and community partners whose commitment to collaboration has advanced the mission of the ARRIVE Together program.

ARRIVE Together is a co-response program that pairs a Crisis Intervention Team (CIT)-trained police officer with a mental and behavioral health clinician to respond to calls involving individuals experiencing a mental health or behavioral health crisis. The program emphasizes de-escalation, crisis intervention, and connecting individuals with appropriate community-based services and resources.

"Officer Gonzalez's actions exemplify the professionalism, compassion, and commitment to service that we expect from our officers," said Chief Silvio Bet. "His recognition reflects the strength of the partnerships built through the ARRIVE Together program and the positive impact that collaboration between law enforcement and behavioral health professionals can have when responding to individuals in crisis."

Chief Bet said the Montgomery Township Police Department remains committed to supporting innovative programs like ARRIVE Together that strengthen partnerships between law enforcement, behavioral health clinicians, healthcare providers, and community organizations. Through this collaborative response model, the department continues to enhance public safety while ensuring individuals experiencing a behavioral health crisis receive the care, support, and resources they need.
