Susan Fisher, VMD, of Rocky, Hill, NJ, died on Tuesday, July 21, 2026 at the age of 84. She was born in Philadelphia on August 18, 1941 to Benjamin and Evelyn Fisher (nee Kaufman).
A veterinarian, Dr. Fisher resided in Rocky Hill for more than 40 years. She attended Philadelphia College of Art, lived in France and traveled throughout Europe while in her early 20s, and then worked as a professional photographer for several years. She later returned to school to study veterinary medicine, earning her VMD degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 1974. She completed her internship at Angell Memorial Hospital in Boston and later founded Kingston Animal Hospital in Princeton, New Jersey, in 1981.
After retiring, Susan enjoyed traveling, rediscovered painting, served on the Rocky Hill Board of Health, and took courses in Spanish, teaching ESL, and many other subjects. She created a beautiful home and garden, and took loving care of many animals over the years, both professionally and personally.
Susan married Robert (Bob) Crowe who was the love her life. They traveled the world but also enjoyed the simple pleasures of Rocky Hill life until Bob's death in 2010. She was also predeceased by her sister, Beryl Fisher McCullough and a nephew, David McCullough.
She is survived by her nieces, Lisa Burns (James), Ellen McCullough (Eileen Kern), stepchildren Alex Crowe, Jacque McGinn (Paul), and Sean Crowe, step-grandchildren Connor and Cabrina McGinn, as well as several great-nieces. She also leaves her friend and caregiver, Claudia Gúzman, her beloved pets, Bunny, Moses, and Emma, and many caring friends and neighbors.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 19 at 1pm at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Princeton. Memorial contributions may be made to SAVE, A Friend to Homeless Animals.
