As summer winds down and we look ahead to a busy and exciting fall in Montgomery, I share several opportunities, events, and important reminders to help keep our community thriving.

Montgomery Community Garden

Montgomery is exploring an opportunity to create a community garden where residents can grow food, connect with neighbors, and enjoy time outdoors. If you are interested in helping to establish the garden or want to learn more about it, please reach out to me directly at LSavron@montgomerynj.gov.

Report a Concern App

If you notice low-hanging branches or other obstructions affecting sidewalks or public pathways, please let us know using the GovAlert app. This quick notification tool helps our town respond promptly and keep pedestrian areas safe. Download the GovAlert app from the township website using the Report a Concern link.

Unity Tree Mural Mosaic: Tile Painting Events

The Unity Tree Mural Mosaic project is halfway completed, but there is still time for you to be part of Montgomery’s history! Sign up for one of our tile painting events, paint your piece of the community mural, and contribute to a permanent public art installation celebrating unity and connection. All ages and skill levels are welcome.

Join us in the Library Program Room on Saturday, September 5 from 11 am – 1 pm and Wednesday, September 16 from 5:30 – 7 pm, or at Oops Art Painting Studio on Thursday, September 10 from 5:30 pm – 7 pm. RSVP with the

QR code, or through the township website. If you or your organization would like to host a tile

painting event, please reach out to me.  LSavron@montgomerynj.gov.

Volunteer Appreciation Event – October 3

On October 3, we will come together for our annual Volunteer Appreciation Event.

Montgomery is fortunate to have an outstanding group of volunteers who give their time, skills, and energy to support our boards, committees, programs, and community initiatives. Recognizing them is important because their efforts make Montgomery stronger, more vibrant, and more resilient. We look forward to celebrating all they do.

Volunteer Positions Available

If you are interested in serving the community, we currently have openings on several committees, including:

Recreation Committee – help plan new parks, programs and events

Economic Development Commission – help promote local businesses

Shade Tree Committee – advise on tree policies and street tree plantings and maintenance

Landmarks Commission – for Montgomery history enthusiasts and advise on historic preservation initiatives

Please reach out to Township Clerk Lisa Fania lfania@montgomerynj.gov with questions or submit an application through the Montgomery online volunteer portal. Your involvement plays a vital role in shaping Montgomery’s future.

Permit Satisfaction Survey Underway

The township is undertaking a review of the construction and zoning permit process to better understand what’s working well and where we can improve, including communication, application requirements, review timelines, and overall customer service. If you recently obtained a construction or zoning permit you may have already received this survey.

We appreciate you taking the time to participate. Every response supports our efforts toward a smoother, more transparent process. Thank you for staying engaged, for offering your voice, and for continuing to make Montgomery Township a community we are proud to call home.
