US Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito has denied a bid by 27 New Jersey suburban towns — including Montgomery Township — to halt the New Jersey law ordering them to allow for more affordable housing in their communities.

Johnson & Johnson on Feb. 18 announced a more than $1 billion investment in a new next generation cell therapy manufacturing facility in Pennsylvania that will provide 4,000 construction jobs and 500 skilled biomanufacturing jobs once it is fully operational. The site in Lower Gwynedd, Montgomery County, is 39 miles from 199 Grandview Road in Montgomery Township, where J&J built a manufacturing plant in the 1970s that included diaper production.

A major winter storm is forecast to impact Montgomery Township from Sunday, Feb. 22, through Monday, Feb. 23, with significant heavy snow, high winds, and potential blizzard conditions, according to the National Weather Service. Total snowfall could exceed 14–20 inches, with the heaviest rates of 1–2 inches per hour occurring Sunday evening. Montgomery Public Schools, the Somerset County Library, and the Montgomery Municipal building are all closed on Tuesday.

Montgomery Township NJ officials voted unanimously on Feb. 19 to move forward with an ordinance to secure “Film Ready” certification, a designation that is expected to streamline the process for filmmakers and bring new economic activity to the community. 

The tiny borough of Rocky Hill, nestled along the D&R Canal State Park and within walking distance to the booming real estate markets of Princeton and Montgomery Township, may see a huge population spike. The historic village has about 280 households, but that may increase by another 91 homes in the form of condos and rowhomes on a historic farm property off Princeton Avenue. This 32% increase would include 18 affordable units.

Christopher Joseph Sheridan, 69, dedicated many years to the Montgomery Township NJ School District, working in the transportation department maintaining the school bus fleet until his retirement in 2010. He died peacefully on January 3, 2026.
