Montgomery Township, NJ — Shivani Popat of Montgomery transitioned from a job as a senior consultant with Deloitte Consulting, representing the Mumbai Metropolitan region, to opening her own business that allows her creativity to flow.

Called Magical Skye, the business specializes in producing one-of-a-kind keepsakes, party favors, and hand-painted greeting cards. She also creates custom orders.

Popat describes her new business as, “It’s a little art venture, where I create hand-painted ceramics and cards, each painted with love, creativity, and a personal touch."

Popat was born in India, and earned her bachelor’s degree at the University of Mumbai. She also has a diploma from NIIT in computers and computer science, according to LinkedIn. NIIT revolutionized the technology landscape in India by imparting information technology education to non-technical graduates, according to NIIT.com.

Popat is multi-lingual, fully proficient in Gujarati, Hindi, and English. She is skilled in test management, including functional testing for Integration & System Integration Test (SIT).

"At Magical Skye, we believe in the beauty of handmade craftsmanship," Popat said. "Whether you’re looking for a one-of-a-kind gift, a keepsake for yourself, or a special way to send love through a card, we’re here to create something meaningful for you."

Shivani Popat sells her hand-painted ceramic plates. She offers customization as well.

Her watercolor greeting cards and ceramics are displayed at two shops — one in New Brunswick & another in Short Hills. She is looking to expand closer to home.

"I want to try some businesses here in Montgomery, to see if they are ready to rent a spot in their shop. A curated collection of hand-painted greeting cards and ceramics can add unique artistic touch to their offerings," she said.

Customers can also order her products online. Customization is available as well. ■
