Aubrie Daniel Barnes, a culinary specialist for the United States Air Force, died in a car crash on July 26, 2026 in Dover, Delaware. He was 26.
Born on November 22, 1999 in Dade County, Florida, Aubrie lived a life defined by love, kindness, strength, and unwavering devotion to family and especially to God. Throughout life's journey, he touched countless lives with a warm heart, generous spirit, and genuine compassion.
Aubrie graduated Montgomery High School in 2018 and went on to attend the University of Delaware.
Whether sharing words of encouragement, offering a helping hand, or simply being present for those in need, Aubrie left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Aubrie enjoyed playing sports, riding bikes with his dad, and hanging out with his family. Family was very important to him. He and his dad had a bond like no other. His dad taught him to be a God-fearing man.
Aubrie loved and protected his mom any chance he could. When his dad was away on business trips for days at a time, Aubrie took pride in making sure his mom was safe, fed, and taken care of at home. Their relationship was special.
We taught him to always be kind to others and help anyone in need. As a child Aubrie considered everybody he met his friend. Everywhere he went there was a friend. He referred to all of his co-workers as friends. Sometimes life threw him a curve ball, but he was always resilient and bounced back with the help and love of family and so many friends.
Aubrie learned to be a jack of all trades, he could build, garden, fix cars, and repair almost anything that needed fixing. He took pride in everything he did and took the utmost pride in his faith in the Lord. He read the bible, asked lots of questions and was proud to be a Christian.
Aubrie found great joy in spending time with family and friends. He believed that life's greatest blessings were the relationships built through love, faith, laughter, and shared experiences. He will always be remembered for his unforgettable smile, wisdom, resilience, and the unconditional love he gave so freely.
Above all else, Aubrie was a devoted family member whose greatest pride was the people he loved. He leaves behind a loving family, including his father, Audruban (Mass) Barnes; mother, Sandra Barnes; and his sister whom he adored more than anyone on this earth, Audra Barnes. He also leaves behind his grandmother Susie Mae Johnson and his Godmother Patricia J. Lawrence and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Aubrie was preceded in death by grandparents: King David Johnson, Jr. and Joslyn D. Barnes, Leonie V. Barnes and uncle/Godfather Anthar L.C. Barnes.
Though our hearts are heavy with loss, we find comfort in knowing that Aubrie's legacy of love, kindness, and faith will continue to live on in the lives of all who knew and loved him. We are grateful for the time we shared and will carry his memory with us always. We will continue to live life leading with kindness just like he did every single day.
