Montgomery senior Trey McFadden already has his plans set for next fall: Playing football at Dartmouth College. McFadden also has been a regular on the Cougars’ indoor and outdoor track teams over the years as a runner and jumper. As his high school career wound down, McFadden decide to pick up javelin. He had never participated in the event and knew little of the fine details. Sure, he had been around it for years, but had not tried it at any level, never mind varsity.

Unfortunately, many artifacts in New Jersey remain un-cataloged. The existing records, sometimes just notes handwritten on paper and stored in a drawer, require extensive time to maintain and are vulnerable to loss or deterioration. The process of organizing history, it turns out, can be as fragile as the objects themselves.

The Montgomery Township Police Department participated in several traffic safety enforcement initiatives throughout April and May aimed at reducing crashes, promoting safe driving behaviors, and enhancing roadway safety throughout the community.

Each month, Montgomery High School Athletic Director Kris Grundy polls local coaches to select a female and male scholar athlete to spotlight on this page. In addition to a feature article, each athlete receives gift certificates to The Tiger’s Tale and Beniamino's Cucina and Pizza. Montgomery High School pitcher Mason Neufeld took to the mound in the top of the seventh in a tie game against Pingry at the Somerset Patriots’ TD Bank Park in Bridgewater on April 11. With one out in the eighth, Neufield hit a double. Then teammate Henry Maddox hit a single, bringing Neufield home, and the score to 10-9.

Senior Muinat Tijani works hard, and helped her team place 3rd in the discus relay and 5th in the shot put relay at the Somerset County Relay Championship. Through Montgomery High School’s program, and her older sister Raliat’s influence, Tijani has learned what it takes to be a competitor.

The 2026 Montgomery Township budget was presented and formally introduced by Chief Financial Officer Michael Pitts at the April 16 committee meeting. The public hearing and adoption of the budget is scheduled for May 14. The total budget for 2026 is $34.7 M, compared to $35.6 M in 2025.
