McLoughlin's contract for five years with a 20% Increase in year one after a lengthy discussion that was at times contentious. Ultimately, the board ruled that she should be compensated commensurately with her peer superintendents.

The Montgomery Board of Education plans to decide how much its school superintendent should be paid tonight as it reviews the contract of its veteran school superintendent Mary McLoughlin. The meeting begins at 6 pm in the Orchard Hill Elementary School cafeteria. The proposed five-year contract offers a salary adjustment in the first year, offering a retroactive increase from $233,398 to $279,000 (for the period beginning on July l, 2026 and ending June 30, 2027).

As districts worldwide grapple with the efficacy of online learning, about a dozen Montgomery parents attended a six-hour school board meeting on June 16. They want to limit children's screen time at school, and during homework. Many cited the Surgeon General's recent advisory regarding exposure to screens — whether they be iPads, Chromebooks, cell phones, television, or laptop computers — 2 hours a day max is suggested for kids from 6-18 years old.

The Montgomery Township School District (MTSD) is partnering with Fairgrown Farm to introduce a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) pickup location at Montgomery High School. The farm is owned and operated by brothers James and Alex Klett, who each graduated from Montgomery High School.

The Montgomery Township School Board voted 7 to 2 in favor of a budget that includes a tax levy increase of 6.37% for the 2026-27 school year. Even with this tax increase, the district still will have to cut $4.4 million districtwide through position reductions, facilities upgrades, services, and supplies.

Three community organizations have stepped up to support a new Montgomery Township, NJ school district peer-to-peer outreach program to help students who experience mental health issues such as depression or suicidal thoughts. Jordan’s Relay Foundation ($20,000 over two years), The Mayors Wellness Campaign ($10,000), and the Montgomery - Rocky Hill Municipal Alliance and Youth Services Commission ($3,000) have contributed a total of $33,000.
