Facing complex state affordable housing mandates and the imminent closure of a major corporate campus, the Montgomery Township Committee voted unanimously on September 17, to direct its planning board to study the former corporate site for potential designation as a redevelopment site.

The Montgomery Township Committee will be voting on a resolution tonight to conduct a "Study for An Area in Need of Redevelopment for Kenvue Site" and "Authorizing Execution of Escrow Agreement with E. Kahn Development to Fund Costs Associated with Area in Need of Redevelopment Study and Potential Designation of Site," according the meeting agenda. The meeting begins at 7 pm.

Breaking News: E. Kahn Development, (EKD), filed a lawsuit on July 31 in Superior Court against Montgomery Township. The developer is claiming that local officials passed a data center ban without a valid reason amid ongoing disputes over the future of the 257-acre property, which is zoned for limited-manufacturing. On June 18, the Montgomery Township Committee held a final vote on an ordinance that would effectively ban the construction of data centers in the township.

A lawyer who represents Kahn Development -— the owner of a 300-acre tract zoned for limited industrial use, urged Montgomery leaders to vote against an ordinance. About a dozen community members spoke in support of the ordinance, and to protect a 300-acre plot in Skillman —the former campus of J&J and Kenvue now owned by EKahn.

E. Kahn Development (EKD), the new owner of the former Kenvue campus in Skillman, NJ, held a neighborhood meeting at the Princeton Elk's Lodge on Wednesday, April 29, in which he solicited feedback from about 15 neighbors of the property. While EKD Principal Eli Kahn said he submitted a fully-engineered limited industrial development plan for his 382-acre property, he is simultaneously seeking support for a less dense, mixed-use residential alternative.

Montgomery Township NJ officials voted unanimously on Feb. 19 to move forward with an ordinance to secure “Film Ready” certification, a designation that is expected to streamline the process for filmmakers and bring new economic activity to the community.
