Historic Washington Well Farm Named to Endangered Sites List
In May, Preservation New Jersey named the flood-damaged and vacant Washington Well Farm in Skillman to its 2025 list of the 10 Most Endangered Historic Places. The Dutch farmstead, established circa 1750, is tied to the Revolutionary War and is known for a well where George Washington’s troops stopped to drink in 1778. Flood damage caused by Hurricane Ida in 2021 severely damaged the home and some outbuildings.

Montgomery Street Named for a Hometown Hero
Montgomery Township officials plan to install a street sign in honor of hometown hero Stephen Warner, who was killed in action in Vietnam in 1971. A dedication ceremony will take place at Community Drive—the street that connects Orchard Road to the Municipal complex—on Memorial Day [Monday, May 26] at 10 am.

Montgomery Twp Budget Calls for a 2.89% Tax Rate Increase
Chief Financial Officer Michael Pitts introduced the 2025 budget and gave a presentation at the Montgomery Township Committee meeting on April 3. The 2025 budget is scheduled for adoption at the May 1 Township Committee Meeting. The municipal component of the property tax rate is increasing to $0.48. That is a 2.89% increase over last year.
