Three Teenagers Involved in a Car Crash on Montgomery Road, Police Are Withholding Names

By Barbara A. Preston | May 2, 2022

A 17-year-old driver was charged with reckless driving, careless driving, and other violations after he crashed on Montgomery Road in Montgomery Township on Sunday, May 1, at 2:22 pm. Two 18-year-old passengers were in the car at the time of the crash. The driver and the front-seat passenger were transported to Robert Wood Johnson Hospital in New Brunswick. The driver had minor injuries, and the 18-year-old had more serious lacerations to his head and both arms.

The crash investigation determined the vehicle was traveling eastbound on Montgomery Road at an apparent high rate of speed when the driver lost control of the vehicle, crossed the centerline, drove onto the grass, struck an embankment, and then collided head-on with trees, causing the vehicle to overturn.

The Montgomery Police Department, Montgomery EMS, and Montgomery Fire Companies 1 and 2 responded. Upon arrival, the patrols observed three occupants who self-extricated themselves from the vehicle. A backseat passenger (18 years of age) was evaluated by Montgomery EMS and refused further medical attention.
