Following is the First Responder Spotlight that was published in the March issue:

Stephen B. Weingart Jr. has been a member of Montgomery Township Volunteer Fire Company No. 2 on Route 518 in Blawenburg for 10 years.

Following his father’s foot- steps, Weingart began his career in the fire service when he was 16 years old, as a junior firefighter at Little Rocky Hill Volunteer Fire Company in Franklin Township.

He had served as an interior firefighter for 25 years, prior to moving to Montgomery. He had thought his firefighting career had ended after leaving Little Rocky Hill, as he had a plumbing busi- ness, tended to his honey bees, and was raising a family.

However, in 2011, his son encouraged him to join the Montgomery fire company. His son was a junior firefighter at the time. Weingart happily obliged and was

recruited to serve in the role of “fire police.”

In doing so, he traded going into burning buildings for an occasionally dangerous job of ensuring traffic safety and efficiency at fire scenes.

During his decade with the Montgomery Fire Company, he had moved up the ranks to become a fire police sergeant, and has responded to more than 500 calls.

Weingart also helped with the management of the fire company’s emergency services by being elected to be a fire commissioner for District 2, where he served two terms from 2013 to 2018.

Station 46 members applaud Steve Weingart Jr. and commend him for his service to the community and dedication to the fire service. ■
