The Montgomery Police Department, in partnership with Montgomery Office of Emergency Management (OEM), is proud to announce the official unveiling of its new Swift Water Rescue Program—an initiative designed to strengthen the community’s preparedness and response to water-related emergencies.

This program represents a significant investment in public safety, equipping Montgomery’s Police Officers with advanced capabilities to operate in hazardous flood and swift water conditions. Multiple officers have successfully completed both technical- and operations-level swift water rescue training, ensuring they are prepared to respond effectively in high-risk environments.
In addition to specialized training, officers have been outfitted with industry-standard swift water rescue gear, enhancing both their safety and operational effectiveness during emergency responses.
A key component of the program is Montgomery’s Rescue Vehicle, a specialized unit capable of operating in up to three feet of moving water. This capability allows first responders to access areas that would otherwise be unreachable during flood events, significantly reducing response times and improving outcomes for those in need.
