Skillman has a new Turkish restaurant. Mira Mediterranean Grill, offering chicken kebabs, falafel (deep fried chickpeas), and gyro doner (a combo of ground beef and lamb sliced thin), opened recently in Skillman.

Mira Mediterranean Grill held a grand opening and ribbon-cutting at the Village Shops at 1378 Route 206 in Skillman on Nov. 14.

Ekrem, the owner, has worked side-by-side with his two brothers at their family restaurants, which includes Efes Mediterranean Grill at 235 Nassau St., Princeton.

The family also has Efes restaurants in New Brunswick and Jersey City.

After two decades of hard work, countless meals, and thousands of happy customers, Ekrem says he decided it was time to bring his own dream to life. He opened Mira — a place where he says he hopes that every guest feels like family.

Brett Pugliese, vice president of Pugliese Properties, attended the Mediterranean Grill’s grand opening on Nov. 14. He told The Montgomery News that his family is delighted for Mira to join the The Village Walk at Montgomery.

“Their food is well know in Princeton for good reason,” he said. “It is fresh and delicious.”
