Local Artist Displays Work in Princeton and at Newark Museum

July 12, 2021

Montgomery Township's Spriha Gupta has art on display at two different venues this month: in Princeton and at the Newark Museum of Art.

The museum show, titled "ReVision and Respond" is an annual juried exhibition sponsored by the NJ State Council on the Arts, and will be on view through Sunday, August 22. This year’s exhibition jurors reviewed more than 1,800 entries from 484 artists across New Jersey.

The Newark Museum jurors selected 50 works by 45 artists (including Gupta) that powerfully interpreted this year’s "ReVision and Respond" theme, inspired by artists’ crucial role in our society as they offer nuanced perspectives on our current and future worlds.

Gupta’s paintings incorporate golden threads and other materials. She says she is influenced by her Indian cultural roots and is “fearless in her use of colors.”

Spriha Gupta's mixed-media painting titled "Fractured 6" is on display at the Newark Museum of Art.
