Bonnie Elizabeth Thiel Gurzo, 64

Died December 11, 2021

—Lifelong Montgomery Township Resident

Bonnie Elizabeth Thiel Gurzo

Bonnie Elizabeth Thiel Gurzo, 64, a lifelong resident of Montgomery Township, died on Saturday, December 11.

Predeceased by her parents Donald Corbin and Miriam (Doyle) Thiel; she is survived by her husband Michael K. Gurzo; three sons: George, Byron, and Barry Gurzo; brother and sister-in-law Donald C. Thiel Jr. and Peggy; and nieces and nephews Donald C. Thiel III, Mary Kathryn Anderson, Christopher Thiel, and Patrick Thiel.

Bonnie was a wonderful and dedicated mother whose life revolved around her three boys, George, Byron, and Barry, her husband Michael, and her pack of rambunctious pups.

A talented artist, Bonnie spent much of her free time sewing, painting, drawing, and working with arts and crafts. Her talent for art extended into many other parts of her life, including her garden where she and Michael spent countless hours tending to flowers which were widely held as some of the most beautiful in their neighborhood.

Bonnie loved to be outdoors and grew up traveling the country with her parents and brother Don Jr. where they made regular visits to National and State Parks like Yellowstone, Sequoia National Park, and the Grand Canyon. She had an incredible memory and loved to regale her family with stories of her youth and the time spent with her brother and parents. She also spent most of her summers at their lake cottage in Canada where boating, cliff diving, and swimming were commonplace and were activities eventually shared with her own nuclear family.

Bonnie was a highly active and visible member of her community. She and Michael could always be seen at her son’s sports games, attending functions run by the Montgomery Fire Department where her father and 3 sons all volunteered, or simply when taking walks around the neighborhood with Michael. She was uncommonly loyal and kind, and could always be counted on to lend a helping hand with a smile on her face.

She will be sorely missed.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 18 at the St. Charles Borromeo Roman Catholic Church at 47 Skillman Rd, Skillman. Burial is private.
