Somerset County Vocational & Tech School Groundbreaking

A ceremony marking the start of construction on a $23 million expansion of facilities at Somerset County Vocational & Technical Schools (SCVTS) was held on March 27.

The Vo-Tech school is open to all Somerset County students, including Montgomery and Rocky Hill. The new building will include classrooms and learning labs. The construction of a new $3.7 million auxiliary gymnasium will take place concurrently.


Funding for these projects comes from a combination of state funds from the Securing Our Children’s Future Bond Act and funds contributed by the Somerset County Board of County Commissioners. SCVTS is a fully accredited, four-year high school with 19 challenging programs.

Courses may lead to certificates in the following areas: Agricultural Science; Automotive- Diesel Technology; Auto Body; Business Entrepreneurship and Management; Carpentry; Computer Science; Cosmetology; Culinary; Dance; Electrical Construction; Graphics Communications; Health Occupations; Law and Public Safety; Engineering and Advanced Manufacturing; Plumbing; and Theater Arts.
