New Sculptures at Monty High School Recall Pandemic Memories

By Barbara A. Preston | Posted July 3, 2023

The Montgomery High School Visual Arts Department installed a new set of sculptures along the southern driveway entrance to MHS in June. Titled “Pandemic Memories,” this series of three sculptures was created by MHS ceramics students with the intent of capturing the impact the pandemic had on their lives.

Through the design and symbols used, students created ceramic artworks that capture the experiences they had, lessons learned, and time lost. Viewers may walk around and view the ways the pandemic changed the lives of the more than 100 students represented in this installation.

“Pandemic Memories” gives a voice to students who lost so much and experienced life in a way no other MHS student had previously. Finishing details are still being added to the installation.
