Monty Police Blotter: Plow Truck Catches Fire, Vehicles Stuck During Snow Storm, DWI Arrest

Multiple drivers were stranded vehicles during the recent snow storm, one DWI arrest, a plow truck catches fire, and careless driving highlight the list of Montgomery Township Police activity for the month of January. Zero burglaries and no crime has been reported for the month.


Plow Truck Catches Fire

A Montgomery Township Public Works truck caught fire during snow plowing operations on Copper Vail Court on Jan. 25 at 4:31 pm. Montgomery Police, EMS, Fire Company No. 2 , and the Rocky Hill Fire Company responded. The fire was extinguished and the driver did not report any injuries. The Montgomery Township Fire Marshall responded to investigate.



DWI Arrest on Meadow Run Drive

On January 30 at 9:11 pm, Officer Garrett Stratton stopped a vehicle on Meadow Run Drive after observing the vehicle not having illuminated rear lights.  Officer Stratton determined the driver, Kathleen Cordier, 39, of Skillman, had consumed alcoholic beverages prior to operating the vehicle. Cordier was subsequently arrested and transported to MTPD HQ for processing. Police issued summonses to her for Driving While Intoxicated, Reckless Driving, Careless Driving, Maintenance of Lamps, and Open Container of Alcohol in a Motor Vehicle. Cordier was released and is schedule to appear in Montgomery Municipal Court.


Careless Driving, Not Ice, Led to Car Crash on Rt 601, Police Say

On January 23 at 3:18 am, Montgomery Police and EMS responded to Route 601 near Grandview Road for a motor vehicle crash.  Police determined Jonathan Peritz, 35, of Hillsborough, was travelling south on Route 601 and struck the concrete island near the railroad crossing, resulting in the vehicle crossing the northbound lane, coming to rest in the ditch along the roadway.  Peritz reported losing control after driving over ice.  Police did not observe any ice on the roadway and determined the crash was due to driver inattention and failure to maintain the travel lane. Peritz was evaluated by Montgomery EMS at the scene.  Police issued Peritz motor vehicle citations for Careless Driving and Failure to Maintain Lane.

Police Use ATV to Help Folks Stuck in Snow

Montgomery police officers used their all-terrain vehicle to patrol and respond to emergencies during the recent snow storm. Police responded to several reports of vehicles that became stuck on the roadways.



Medical Emergency Leads to a Car Crash on Great Road

On January 19 at 9:13 pm, Montgomery Police and EMS responded to Great Road near Inverness Drive for a motor vehicle crash. Police determined the driver, a 55-year-old Skillman resident, was travelling south on Great Road in a 2025 Alfa Romeo.  The driver experienced a medical emergency, resulting in the vehicle crossing over the northbound travel lane, leaving the roadway, and striking a tree. The driver and a passenger were evaluated and treated at the scene by Montgomery EMS.


Ceiling Collapse on Evert Court

On January 21 at 12:43 pm, Montgomery Police, Fire Company No. 2 , and Rocky Hill Fire Company responded to an Evert Court residence for a reported ceiling collapse in the residence. It was determined that a water leak inside the residence caused the ceiling to partially collapse. There were no injuries.


Disorderly Person at Princeton Self Storage

On January 21 at 4:19 pm, Montgomery Police responded to Princeton Self Storage for a disorderly person. An employee reported a male cursed at her after she asked if the person needed assistance. The person then left the location prior to police arrival.
