With the clock running down in the fourth quarter, it looked like the game might go into overtime. A 5-minute break in the game followed a fight on the Colonia side of the field, and a Colonia player was ejected from the game. When the game continued, it was Mutton who appeared with the ball on a 13-yard run to score his fourth touchdown of the game. He also kicked the extra point, giving Montgomery a 28-21 lead with just minutes left in regulation.
