June Lubas (Wieczorek) of Belle Mead, Montgomery Township, died on September 20, 2026 surrounded by the love of family who cherished her deeply.
June was born in Plainfield, New Jersey on September 5, 1941, daughter of the late Steven and Vera (Silva) Wieczorek. June attended South Plainfield public schools and graduated with the Class of 1959.
June married her devoted husband, Ted, in 1961 and their enduring love carried them through 64 beautiful years together. The newlyweds joyfully settled in Montgomery Township, where they created a warm home and welcomed two children, Peter and Susan. Their growing family became the heart of their life together.
June took an active and generous part in community life, always giving her time to those around her and the activities she enjoyed. She especially enjoyed volunteering at her children’s school and supporting their teachers. Her compassion and quiet sense of responsibility could be felt in the many ways she cared for others.
Later in life, June found meaningful connections through her work with Carrier Clinic, Princeton Radiology, and Hillsborough Radiology, where she ultimately retired. She valued the easy camaraderie and friendships she found there, and often came home laughing as she told stories about her day with “the girls at work.”
During her retirement, June became a member of the Montgomery Senior Organization and enjoyed playing Mah Jongg at the Montgomery Senior Center. Always eager to try something new, she took particular pleasure in learning the game alongside her friends.
June was happiest when she had somewhere to go, something to do, and dear friends and family to share it with. Deeply caring and wonderfully curious, June took a genuine interest in the people around her and their stories. Conversation came easily to her, and she had a remarkable gift for finding the shared threads that brought people
together. June’s quick sense of humor brought a playful spark to every conversation, and those who knew her will remember the twinkle in her eye that let you know she was up to something.
June’s love of the Red Sox was shared by the whole family, and she had an impressive knowledge of the game. She delighted in trading baseball stats and was the keeper of scores and standings, always ready with the latest update.
June was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who treasured every opportunity to spend time with her family. June and Ted made many happy memories in the Green Mountains, especially around Arlington, Vermont, where the family had a camp. While there, June loved taking long walks, attending community and church events, and visiting neighbors. True to her adventurous spirit, June even joined her young grandchildren for tubing on the river. Over the decades, the camp became a place where generations of the family gathered, bringing everyone together around the campfire.
Annual trips to the Outer Banks of North Carolina were another special part of family life. Those weeks had a comfortable ease to them, with all the grandchildren there and plenty of time to enjoy each other’s company. Always active, June especially loved her sunrise walks on the beach. At breakfast, everyone would marvel at how many miles she had already covered. Evenings on the deck were relaxed and full of stories, with June’s warmth and lively personality drawing everyone in.
In recent years, June found great joy in welcoming two great-grandchildren into the family. She loved keeping up with their lives, from the smallest everyday details to each new milestone. Always a doting “Grandy,” she wanted to be part of it all, whether she was settling a baby in her arms or playing alongside a child until they were both laughing.
June is survived by her loving husband, Theodore (Ted) F., son, Peter (Jody) Lubas, daughter, Susan (Paul) Budzinski, grandchildren, Erik M. Lubas, Jessica B. (Nicholas) Green, David P. (Katie) Budzinski and Matthew F. Budzinski, two great-grandchildren, seven godchildren and many nephews and nieces, including Cheryl Wieczorek who held a special place in her life. June is also survived by brothers, Steve Wieczorek, Robert (Bob) (Joanne) and Kenneth (Ken) (Mary). She was predeceased by her sister-in-law, Jeanne Wieczorek.
June met each day with purpose. Her quiet yet enduring strength will continue to inspire everyone who knew her. Her family was always at the center of her life, and she leaves a legacy of love and devotion to them. She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever celebrated.
A funeral service was held on Saturday, September 26 at 10:30 am at St. Charles Borromeo Roman Catholic Church (47 Skillman Road in Skillman). Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery (95 Hopewell-Wertsville Road in Hopewell).
