Belle Mead resident Keith Harvey, 36, was returning from a holiday party in Manhattan on Friday night when he was struck by a Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) train on track 17, according to police.

According to MTA police spokesperson Joana Flores, a departing Long Island Rail Road train on Track 17 inside the Midtown transit hub struck Harvey at about 11:30 pm. First responders declared him dead at the scene.

Harvey, who lived in the Belle Mead section of Montgomery Township, had been planning to use New Jersey Transit to get home.

The MTA is investigating the incident, according to Flores. No criminality is suspected.

A GoFundMe site had raised almost $60,000 of a $100,000 goal as of Sunday afternoon.

"I am overwhelmed with gratitude at the support and love shown to this amazing family in such a short time," according to Tanya Walliser, who organized and posted the site on Saturday. "Looking through this list [of donors] absolutely warms my heart. With all the love in the world, I thank you all."
