Sirens, flashing lights and the excitement of Halloween come together at the Rocky Hill Fire Department’s annual Halloween Open House, set for Friday, October 31, from 5 to 8:00 pm at 154 Washington Street, Rocky Hill.
Families are invited to explore the firehouse, climb aboard fire trucks, try on firefighter gear, and trick-or-treat safely inside the station. Children of all ages can enjoy hands-on activities while learning essential fire safety tips from experienced volunteers.

“This event is one of our favorite traditions,” said Chief Todd Harris. “Kids get to enjoy Halloween fun
while climbing on the trucks and trying on gear and families leave with important fire safety tips that could save lives.”
This year’s event will also highlight the National Fire Prevention Association’s (NFPA) Fire Prevention Week (FPW), Oct. 5-11, and the 2025 theme, “Charge into Fire Safety: Lithium-Ion Batteries in Your Home.”
From phones and laptops to power tools and electric vehicles, lithium-ion batteries are everywhere, but can be dangerous if not handled correctly. Rocky Hill firefighters, who have trained extensively for these incidents, will share safety guidance with attendees.
Buy smart. Choose products with a safety certification mark such as UL, ETL or CSA.
Charge carefully. Always use manufacturer-approved cords, place devices on hard surfaces, and avoid overcharging.
Recycle safely. Take old batteries to an approved collection site. Never throw them in the trash.
Rocky Hill volunteers will also participate in Montgomery Township’s Fire Prevention Open House on Saturday, October 18, from 10 am. to 2 p.m. at Montgomery Township Volunteer Fire Co. No. 2, 529 County Route 518, Blawenburg.

Visitors can explore emergency vehicles, watch live demonstrations, meet Smokey Bear and the New Jersey Forest Fire Service, and enjoy free cider and donuts. Both events are free and open to the public.
As families take home these important fire safety lessons, the Department also invites them to consider helping keep their community safe. Rocky Hill Fire Department is always seeking new volunteers– whether on the front lines or in a support role. Training and gear are free and there are many ways to get involved.
