With early, in-person voting as a new option this year in New Jersey, it was important to make sure area residents had the information they needed before the early voting began on October 23rd.
The Montgomery News published the candidates’ profiles and their positions in the October issue of the newspaper. You can easily see this election information by visiting TheMontyNews.com and clicking on the “Local Elections” tab at the top of the page.
General Election Mail-in Ballots
In-Person Early Voting
In-Person Election Day
Mail-in ballots: Mail-in ballots must be requested by the voter. Those who have previously requested to be sent ballots for upcoming elections will automatically be sent a mail-in ballot by the Somerset County Clerk’s Office on or soon after September 18. New requests for a mail-in ballot will be processed within three days, and a ballot will be mailed out in that time frame.
Mail-in ballots may be cast in one of three ways:
Bring a completed mail-in ballot to the Board of Elections, 20 Grove Street, Somerville, during working hours, before 8 pm on November 2;
Place a completed mail-in ballot in one of the 17 secure drop box locations.
Have a completed ballot postmarked before 8 pm on November 2. Ballots sent through the US Post Office must arrive at the Board of Elections by 8 pm on November 8.
Mail-in ballots cannot be returned to any polling location.
Early Voting: For the first time New Jersey voters will be able to vote in-person at early voting polling places. Somerset County will have six locations open from October 23 to October 31, which will operate on Sundays from 10 am to 6 pm and all other days from 10 am to 8 pm. Early voting is considered a completed vote, and cannot be amended later. Early voting location: Montgomery, Municipal Building, 2261 Route 206, Belle Mead.
In-Person Election Day: Eligible voters who have not requested a mail-in ballot or voted early will be able to vote in person at their local polling places again in 2021 from 6 am to 8 pm. Visit the Somerset County Election 2021 website to find your local polling place.
