Somerset County Surrogate Race

The Somerset County surrogate is an elected five-year term position. The surrogate is in charge of probating wills (qualify executors, administrators, and trustees, and issues the necessary documents for administering estates). As custodian of the funds belonging to minors’ estates, the surrogate oversees the minors’ assets and expenditures until the minor reaches majority. Processes mental incompetencies and conservator-ships and handling adoptions of minors and adults.
