Murr's father died from Alzheimer’s disease two years ago, but Murr said his family began losing him a decade earlier. During this time, his mother exhausted herself caring for him. Murr said she eventually agreed to hire nurses help during the day, but she refused overnight help.

The day Murr's father finally moved into a nursing home, his mother entered the hospital. She died five months before her husband. Murr says she died from the stress of caring for his father. He says her death was directly related to her husband’s Alzheimer’s disease. “It’s a universal issue," he said. "The family suffers with this disease.”

The Murrays wanted to do something to help others families suffering from the Alzheimer's, and hope to eventually hold the 95 Charity Event at 26 Washington Street. A white picket fence has been installed around the back yard, and the large garage will be transformed into a lounge for the event

Tickets to the No. 95 Charity event cost $75 and include appetizers and drinks. Virtual tickets are $25 and allow access to the live stream and live auction. Tickets that include the VIP after party, which goes until midnight, cost $300 and include dessert. All proceeds go to the Fisher Center.

About No. 95 Candles

The idea for No. 95 candles began during the pandemic. Melyssa was about to begin her nursing career when COVID hit. She was creating moss art for the couples’ home when she decided to start a home decor company, WithoutTheRoots, to sell her creations and began pursuing a business degree from Rutgers University.

When she began to create fragrant soy candles about three years ago, she renamed the company No. 95 candles, The company now ships thousands of candles around the world. As it expanded, the business took over the Murrays' Princeton home.

At the same time, the Murrays were reading The Montgomery News in 2024 when they learned that a home with a museum-quality model railroad known as the Pacific Southern Railroad was listed for sale. The club was facing probable dissolution, so the Murrays checked it out and ended up buying the home.
