Stonebridge Artist to Show Work in Lambertville Gallery

By Barbara Figge Fox | Posted October 19

Jane Adriance, a Princeton-area artist who now makes her home at Stonebridge at Montgomery, will share an exhibit with Lambertville artist Debbie Pisacreta at the Artist's Gallery, 18 Bridge Street, Lambertville Gallery from November 10 to December 4. A reception for the exhibit, “Painting with Light,” will be November 12, 4 to 7 pm. Gallery hours are Thursday through Sunday, 11 am to 6 pm.

Earlier this year The Arts Council of Princeton's Taplin Gallery hosted an exhibit of paintings by Adriance, who says she aims to open up new perspectives for the viewer. "I've been working in art since I was 10 years old," says Adriance, "and here at Stonebridge I am continuing to paint. My hope is that my paintings start a dialogue between you, the viewer, and me, the painter, that becomes a source of aesthetic pleasure.”

This exhibit explores the quality of light in both abstract and representational paintings. Adriance continues her journey to create juxtapositions of different visual observations with light and color.

"Light determines the color, composition, and the story being told," she says. "I have combined representative and abstract elements in the same context as well as pure abstractions in oils and mixed media. At times I think this becomes a sensual journey of mystery. Hopefully the observer will find a springboard to fantasy as well as aesthetic pleasure."

Jane Adriance is a professional artist who is also trained as a clinical social worker.

Since its inception in 1995, Artists’ Gallery has exhibited the works of some of the finest established and emerging artists in the area, in a variety of styles and media. This diversity is a point of pride for the artist-run gallery and means collectors of all types can enjoy exploring the gallery’s many different rooms, and speak directly to the artist, or artists on staff during their visit. The artists are always pleased to speak about their materials, techniques, and motivations.
