Skillman Mother Charged with Two Counts of 1st Degree Murder for Allegedly Killing Her Own Children

Police arrested Yuhwei Chou, 36, of Skillman at 7:41 am today and charged her with two counts of 1st degree murder. Authorities have identified the children as Samantha Ross, 7, and Paul Ross, 10 months of age, and said they were the biological children of Chou.

Hillsborough Township Police had responded to a 9-1-1 call at 7:41 am for a disabled motor vehicle on Mountain View Road in Hillsborough.


Upon arrival, officers observed two children secured in a booster seat and a baby seat in the back seat of the Chou's vehicle. Officers said the children were bound and restrained, however no vital signs were present on the children and they were pronounced deceased at the scene.


Somerset County Prosecutor Robertson said an investigation revealed that Chou caused the deaths of her two children: Samantha and Paul. The circumstances leading to the events, which caused the deaths of the two children, are under investigation by authorities. No motive has been released.


Police would not give details on the "circumstances."


An autopsy for the cause and manner of death will be performed by the Somerset County Medical Examiner’s Office, police said.


Chou was charged with two counts of 1st degree murder. Defendant Chou will be lodged in the Somerset County Jail pending a bail detention hearing following a medical clearance from an area hospital.

The defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
