Orchard Road Closed Thru July for Bridge Repairs

Teachers, parents, and school bus drivers trying to get to Montgomery Township schools will have to take a major detour beginning Monday, April 8.

Orchard Road will be closed just west of Opossum Road from April through July, in order to fix this little bridge over a tiny brook.

The Orchard Road Bridge over a tributary to Bedens Brook, located just east of the intersection of Opossum Road and about a half mile west of Route 206, will be fully closed to vehicular and pedestrian/bicycle traffic during construction, which is expected to last through July, according to the Somerset County Engineering Division.

Detour route signs will be posted, redirecting traffic along Burnt Hill Road, Sunset Road, and Route 206.

The county awarded the job to the lowest bidder: Kalogridis Contracting, Inc of North Brunswick for $748,118. This project is funded by FY2017 County Aid from NJDOT. ■
