Shirley J. Lang, 83


Loved to learn about the world

Shirley J. Lang (nee Bulmer), age 83, of Skillman, died on September 16 in Somerville from complications of Melanoma of the lymph nodes.

She loved to learn about the world and famous people, and enjoyed reading non-fiction and magazines.

Shirley was born in Paterson on February 24, 1935 to Annie and John Bulmer. As a junior in high school Shirley started dating Robert Lang and in 1954 at age 19 Shirley and Robert were married and began their 64 years of marriage.

She and Bob moved to California in 1966 where Shirley spent her time raising three daughters. In 1972 she and her family moved to Long Island where she worked for BAP Geon in the accounting department. In 1975 she moved back to California where she worked as a purchasing supervisor at Librascope in Glendale. After retiring, they moved to Skillman.

Shirley was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother, taking a lot of pride in how wonderful her grandchildren turned out. She enjoyed visiting with her children and grandchildren and going to their school activities. When her grandson Ryan played football in college she enjoyed going to the games and cheering him on.

Shirley was preceded in death by her mom, dad, brother Bob, sister Anna May and son-in-law John. Her sister Grace currently lives in Michigan.

She is survived by her loving husband, Bob; children, Sharon Brennan, Eileen Pounds (Stan) and Kathy Lang (Darold); her five grandchildren (Bob Brennan, Ryan Brennan, Katie Stehman, Taylor Lang and Tyler Lang) and her great grandson (Connor Brennan).

A funeral service was held at the Hillsborough Funeral Home. Burial was in Highland Cemetery, Hopewell. Contributions can be made to St. Jude’s and Autismradio.org
